I ran across this album on the random, but I can say with all sincerity this is one hell of a debut. The songs are composed and layered quite well, and the subject matter really digs at the fabric of the issues inherent with our social consciousness and world-view. Inspiring stuff. Dear god, I was waiting for more First Base for so long, and somehow this slipped under my radar. I will never be so lax again. Slow-cook down a band like the Beach Boys down into a reduction, then pour it over a finely cooked steak of Self Awareness, and you may yet dream of approaching their splendor.
